Blues fire Craig Berube

Armstrong promotes assistant to interim coach

Berube led Blues to Stanley Cup in 2019

ST. LOUIS Craig Berube, who coached the St. Louis Blues to their first Stanley Cup in 2019, was fired Tuesday night, the team announced.

Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said he made the decision after meeting with Berube earlier in the day. Assistant coach Drew Bannister will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season.

Berube, 58, was in his fifth season as coach of the Blues. He led the team to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons, but the Blues missed the playoffs this season with a 27-46-9 record.

Berube is the only coach to win the Stanley Cup with the Blues. He took over as coach in 2018-19 after Mike Yeo was fired. The Blues went on to win the Stanley Cup that season, defeating the Boston Bruins in seven games.

Berube has a career record of 182-170-53. He was previously the coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013-15.
